We ended our football season with an exhilarating DASSA tournament hosted by Repton School, Dubai. The tournament is organised such that each team plays 3 games in the group stages. Depending on how well you fair in these games, you then get divided into different the shield, bowl, plate and cup. The sunny Saturday afternoon was jam-packed as 4 out of our 5 games were back to back. We began the tournament with great vigour as Jumana scored a beautiful goal in the first 2 minutes.
However, the girls at English College fought hard and equalised in the very last minute making the final score 1-1. In our second game, we pulled our best performance and won the game against JESS. Unluckily, we lost our last game in the group stages to the esteemed football team from DESC. As a result, we entered the bowl division and narrowly missed out on 3rd place with a strong performance from Jumeirah College. Unfortunately, at this stage in the tournament, one of our defenders Nikita had gotten injured and had to sit out of the game.
Due to the lack of substitutes, we were playing with one less player in our final game. This tournament and the season as a whole was one that was challenging. But now that we’ve reached the end, it’s safe to say that each and every one of us has developed a new skill, whether that was time management or a new defence strategy. This experience has helped us evolve into better players, enhance friendships and most importantly inspired us to work harder. (to defeat DESC)
