March Fun Facts-
The King’s School in Canterbury, England is the world’s oldest school. Founded in 597 AD, earning the title of being the world’s oldest school comes with no surprise. The school is, however, up-to-date with quality equipment and supplies and provides modern education.
A school in the Philippines is made entirely of recycled pop bottles. It took about 9,000 bottles and dozens of volunteers to build the structure. Each bottle was filled with sand, water and straw to keep them sturdy. Then, a cement-like substance was used to hold the bottles in place as they were stacked on top of each other to create walls.
In a remote area of Colombia, kids have to travel to school on a zip-line. It turns out the steel wires are the only form of transportation for those living in an isolated valley called Los Pinos. Very young kids aren’t allowed to use the zip-line alone. So they travel along the cable with their parents or an older sibling. If the kids didn’t travel this way, they’d have to walk through the rainforest and it would take two hours to get to school.
The Antarctic Peninsula is one of the most rapidly warming areas on Earth. The Antarctic Peninsula is warming more quickly than many other areas on Earth. In fact, it is one of the most rapidly warming areas on the planet. Over the past 50 years, average temperatures across the Antarctic Peninsula have increased by 3°C, five times the average increase on Earth.
Every way you look in Antarctica faces north. If you stand at the South Pole, you are at the southernmost point on Earth. It doesn’t matter which way you look, every direction is north. So why do we talk about the Antarctic Peninsula as being in West Antarctica, and the section directly south of Australia as East Antarctica?
There are no pain receptors in the brain itself. But the meninges (coverings around the brain), periosteum (coverings on the bones), and the scalp all have pain receptors. Surgery can be done on the brain and technically, the brain does not feel that pain. With that said, the brain is the tool we use to detect pain.
The human brain weighs 3 pounds. It comprises 60% of fat and is one of the fattiest organs in the human body. The human brain has the capacity to generate approximately 23 watts of power when awake. Of the total blood and oxygen that is produced in our body, the brain gets 20% of it.

March Book Review-
The Selection Series by Kiera Cass
4.7/5
If you are looking for something filled with romance and political intrigue, this is the perfect book for you. Although it’s slightly lacking in its creation of a dystopian alternate universe, its plotline will constantly keep you on your toes and make up for any of its flaws. The story follows young America Singer who gets chosen for “The Selection”, a reality TV lottery in which a select few people have the opportunity to fight for the love of Prince Maxon Schreave. For many other girls, this may have been a dream come true however for America it was the worst thing that could happen as she was forced to leave her secret love, Aspen, to compete for a crown she wanted nothing to do with. However, after she meets Prince Maxon she realizes a possibility for a future she never imagined. With fun lovable characters and many jaw-dropping plot twists, I would definitely recommend this book to all royal romance lovers.
