Ahhhhh September! The beginning of another school year – or for some of us – our last
school year. It is the only month where asking a person what they did for summer 50 times
is acceptable. It is a month that is both easy and challenging - whether your biggest problem
this week was learning fractions with pizza slices or annoying your busy parent to drop you
to school because you didn’t wake up on time, we have all had a rough time getting back in
routine. Just like all the other months in the year, September has many nonsensical holidays
to offer us that we can celebrate despite the dreary exam season slowly – but surely-
approaching us. Luckily September is filled with school- related events such as “Library Card
Sign- Up Month”, “Preparedness Month” and “Read a new book month” so they will help in
making the otherwise mundane events a little more interesting.
The 30 th is “Ask a stupid question day” so whether you genuinely have an intriguing question
to ask or not make the effort to ask a silly (but appropriate!) question to your teachers.
Whether it’s asking them about their weekend or simply their favorite ice cream flavor, go
ahead and make the effort to learn about the person who berates you for chewing gum in
class or asks you to tie your hair up fifty times!
This month is perhaps the most diverse month filled with something that almost everyone
can celebrate – be it “Happy Cat Month”, “Piano Month” or “Chicken Month” (yes, chicken
month) there is a reason for everyone to love September
The month of September is also holistically known for many things such as:
- Hunger Action Month
- Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
- Friendship Month
- Suicide Prevention Month
All those taking IB Biology yes, Cancer is the disease that can occur from a malignant tumor
which may have the potential to perform metastasis.
Once again, all this wonderfully weird days do not have much of a history behind them that
is a world revelation or a ground- breaking discovery. It’s just some cool people who have
decided that certain things need to be appreciated so why not?
